£100,000 Raised at PKR Charity Tournament
Charity poker tournaments have become quite popular as online rooms as well as land establishments and poker pros are very involved in various charities. Poker players and rooms can use their influence to raise money and awareness for a number of charities. The latest charity poker tournament to take place was the ninth annual Omar Sharif One to One PKR poker tournament which raised £100,000 for the One to One Children’s Fund. The tournament took place this last Sunday and comedian Norman Pace’s wife, Beverly outlasted the field and took the win. Second place went to Michael Greco and third went to Dexter Fletcher. A ticket to the event cost £365 which included a champagne reception and a buy-in to the PKR poker tournament or the Omar Sharif Backgammon Tournament. The buy-in represented how much it costs to sponsor one child for one year.
Children who are affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa will benefit from the money raised at the tournament and with the money raised at the tournament over 1,000 people will be helped.
