Young Player Wins Heartland Poker Tour Event

David Peters of Toledo, Ohio bested the field of more than three hundred players to take home the win at the Heartland Poker Tour No-Limit Texas Hold’em Main Event. The event took place in Mount Pleasant, Michigan at the Soaring Eagle Casino where several players had hopes of winning the top prize. However, no one would be able to outlast Peters, whose win was his largest to date. (28/08)

Asian Poker Tour Invites Michael Phelps to Play

It has been well reported that Michael Phelps, the highly decorated Olympian, likes poker. Phelps has stated that he would like to attend and play in a World Series of Poker event, though he says his game is “a little off right now”. Pascua Yaqui Tribe Files Lawsuit against Poker Room

The Pascua Yaqui Tribe in Arizona has filed a lawsuit against a poker room that opened up last month near the Tribe’s casinos. The suit was filed by the Tribe because they believe the poker room is violating state gambling laws and interfering with business at their two casinos. (20/08)

Fundraiser Hosted By PPA Set for Democratic National Convention

Yesterday, the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) announced they would be hosting a fundraiser on August 26th, during the Democratic National Convention. The Convention begins on August 25th, where the Democratic Party will announce Barack Obama as the Democratic Nomination for the Presidency. The fundraiser will benefit paralyzed veterans and will take place at Coors Field in Denver. (13/08)

This past Thursday the Latin American Poker Tour Punte del Este Championship finished with Jose Miguel Espinar of Spain nabbing the title and top prize. This was the final stop of this year’s LAPT and three hundred and fifty players showed up for the action. (11/08)

Carlyle Gaming to Release PokerTwin in US

It was announced today that Carlyle Gaming will be releasing a new poker product called PokerTwin , a Texas Hold’em based poker game, in the near future. PokerTwin is similar to Texas Hold’em but removes the luck of the draw and a player must use their poker skills to win the game. (07/08)
