Phil Hellmuth Wants 12th WSOP Bracelet and Look-A-Like?

Phil Hellmuth is known in the poker world as the only player to have eleven bracelets from the World Series of Poker. Jesper Hougaard Wins First World Series of Poker Europe Event

The World Series of Poker Europe has begun and the first event finished yesterday with Jesper Hougaard taking down the win. Final table play was long and many moves occurred that no one saw coming. The event was a £1,500 no limit hold’em WSOPE event and Hougaard took home a bracelet along with his £144,218 prize. (23/09)

PKR Ad Banned From UK Television

The online poker room website, PKR, has released an ad for television that has been banned in the United Kingdom. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned the ad because they believe it glamorizes the risks involved in gambling. (19/09)

First Annual SKY CITY Festival of Poker Begins in October

It was just announced by SKY CITY Auckland that New Zealand will be hosting the first ever SKYCITY Festival of Poker on October 4th through the 12th. The Festival will have the largest prize pool ever awarded in New Zealand, a NZD $1 million prize. Hundreds of players are expected to attend including many pros in the world of poker. (17/09)

When you think of Johnny Depp you think of an amazing actor who has starred in countless movies. Some strange, some touching and some just plain weird. Depp’s most recently has gained popularity form the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, where he places treasure loving Jack Sparrow. Purple Lounge Poker Room Signs Stefan Mattsson

The poker room, Purple Lounge, recently signed a sponsor contract with an up and coming poker star. Stefan Mattsson of Sweden has signed a contract with the Purple Lounge that will have him playing in large international poker tournaments while representing the poker room. Stefan has seen recent success as he finished in second place at the World Poker Tour in Barcelona. (05/09)

Yevgeniy Timoshenko Wins 2008 Asian Poker Tour Macau

A record number of 257 players signed up to participate in the 2008 Asian Poker Tour Macau and Yevgeniy Timoshenko managed to outlast them all and win the title and $500,000 prize. The event was featured at the Galaxy Starworld and had a buy-in of $5,300 with a $1.5 million guarantee. (02/09)
