Pennsylvania Teen Wins Big at Aussie Millions While Pursuing Poker Career

Zachary Gruneberg was a nineteen year old college student at Penn State when he withdrew to try his hand at professional poker. Zachary’s parents did not know that he had been pursuing a poker career and when they found out they were both shocked and filled with pride. Zachary recently won almost $250,000 at the 2009 Aussie Millions Poker Championship. (30/01)

Doyle’s Room Makes Move from Microgaming to Cake Poker

No official announcement has been made by Doyle’s Room to state that they are leaving Microgaming to move to the Cake Poker Network but all signs point to the move. The online poker room recently sent out emails to clients that stated ‘sweeping changes were on the way’ and yesterday Doyle’s Room had a disclaimer on the bottom of the home page that read “Cake Poker Network Partner”. A new website recently went online that will help poker players learn the game of poker and become a better player. PokerSwat offers players tips from some of the top online poker players as well as seasoned veterans. WSOPE Main Event to Air on ESPN February 1st

ESPN has decided to air eight hours of World Series of Poker Europe Main Event footage beginning on February 1st. The footage was shot at the Casino at the Empire in London during last year’s WSOPE Main Event. This will be the first time the European version of the WSOP will air in the United States. (16/01)

First Poker Academy for Women Set for This February

The first every all women’s poker academy is set to take place February 6-8th at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. The academy has been dubbed the High Heels Poker Tour Academy and will feature Susie Isaacs as an instructor. (14/01)

Best Damn Poker Show Season Two Begins This Monday

UltimateBet has announced that their television show, The Best Damn Poker Show, will begin its second season this Monday January 12th at 9pm. The show will air every Monday night on FSN for a season. The series will run seven episodes which will be repeated in the late night hours. (06/01)

WPT Southern Poker Championship Begins This Friday

The first major poker tournament series of 2009 will begin tomorrow at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. The WPT Southern Poker Championship will continue until the seventh of January after fifteen poker tournaments have taken place over the two week period. (01/01)
