Doubles Poker Championship to Premiere this weekend
This weekend on the Game Show Network the Doubles Poker Championship is set to premiere. The poker action will begin this Saturday the 14th at 9pm EDT. The Golden Nugget hosted the action and viewers of the show will be able to check out the new format that was used in game play. The buy-in of the event was $50,000 and several big name players competed in the event. Such players as Jennifer Harmon, Howard Lederer, Phil Hellmuth, Annette Obrestad, Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan and Tony G are just a few that competed.
The Doubles Poker Championship took place in three segments. It began with the regular season, then the semi-finals and finally the final table. Players had to participate in four qualifying rounds during the regular season and each time the players had different partners. Players would earn points according to how they did in each round. The top sixteen players would advance to the semi-finals.
Viewers will see when the show airs; each team will alternate game play on each separate street. One player will play on the preflop and turn and the other player will take their turn on the flop and river, which makes for interesting game play. The show is sure to be a hit for poker fans and players alike. The show will air each Saturday at the same time and it will last for eleven weeks.
