Doyle Brunson leaves Doyles RoomBlack Friday has affected online gambling in many ways not just the poker rooms affected. Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars and Absolute Poker were directly affected on Black Friday but after the incident, the entire gambling industry was affected.
Some software operators have decided to leave the United States gambling market which has left players with fewer online casino and poker options in the US. The latest after effect from Black Friday is that Doyle Brunson has left the online poker room named after him.
Doyle Brunson has been the namesake and face behind the Doyle’s Room online poker room and players would sign up just to play at the site because Doyle himself would play against the online players as well as host tournaments. Doyle’s name was a big draw for the site and now the future of the online poker room could possibly be in jeopardy.
Brunson spoke with online poker news site Gambling 911 and he made a statement on leaving the site which read: "Reluctantly, I have decided to terminate my endorsement contract with Doylesroom.com. It pains me to leave at this time. I have aspirations of reentering the online poker business when the United States Government passes legislation that officially legalize online poker sites."
Doyle also commented on the future of the poker room. He stated that Doyles Room believes they have the right to use his name, likeness and marketability to use his name for a period of time and he has asked them not to do this.
This could be the downfall of the online poker room as Doyle Brunson was the reason the poker room was popular. With the name of the legendary poker player gone, the poker room is just another poker room and does not have anything to offer to bring players in.
