Essex Player Wins Latest Stop on the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour
The G Casino in Luton hosted a Grosvenor UK Poker Tour stop this past Sunday and the event saw a really good turnout with 304 players competing. In the end it was Richard Gryko, a player from Essex, who walked away with the win and it was his first major poker tournament win.Gryko played very well for it to be his first win. He was up against Alan McLean of Blackpool in heads up play. Heads up play did not last very long before Gryko made a move and took the first place prize of £88,850.
McLean earned £53,950 for his second place finish while third place went to Clive Madden of Shrewsbury. Madden earned £35,850 for his efforts. Chuck Thompson was also a notable player at the final table as he finished sixth in the 1995 WSOP Main event.
Gryko is now third in the GUKPT rankings with Martin Silke and Sunny Chattha right above him in the standings. The GUKPT will now move on to Coventry for the final Summer Series event. This event is scheduled to take place from August 27th to the 30th.
