High Stakes Poker Produces $800K Pot
The new $500,000 buy-in for the High Stakes Poker show so far has seen a lot action and some historic pots. One of the most active poker player players at the table has been Cirque du Soleil billionaire Guy Laliberté. On the contrary Doyle Brunson has been one of the cautious players and has rarely gotten mixed up in any of the big pots. This hand would see these to collide to produce a record pot in High Stakes Poker.
Doyle raised pre-flop to $11,200 holding the AT of diamonds. Four players made the call including Laliberté with his A5 of hearts.
The flop brought Ac – Js – 4d in which Brunson bet $40,000. Two opponents folded and Laliberté called. When the turn brought the 2d, Doyle bet $110,000. It was here that most thought Laliberté would call, he didn’t, instead he raised to $310,000.
This would be almost enough to put Texas Dolly all in. Doyle was not about to lay down his hand so Brunson re-raised and went all in for $340,500. Laliberté called.
Must were quite shocled when Laliberté showed his hand and though he did have outs with his flush and gut shot straight draw, the river didn’t help the billionaire. A deal was made to run the river twice but still no help for Laliberté and the Texas Dolly scooped the $818,100 pot.
