Bet24, an online casino and poker room, recently announced that they have gained a European Union license and can now offer players the ability to gamble online without the requirement of having to pay taxes on winnings.

Over the years online players in Europe had to play on European Union licensed gambling websites or they would be taxed on any winnings they may accrue. So any online casino or poker room outside of a nation or territory of the European Union was not going to get as many European players for the simple fact of having to pay taxes.

Now that Bet24 has a license from the European Union they will be attracting European players. Chris Dahl, the Poker Manager for Bet24 stated that it is an ‘important day’ for the Bet24 website. Dahl also commented that Bet24 is one of a small number of poker operators who have been given a European Union license in Gibraltar.

Dahl also stated: “Together with our poker supplier, Ongame Network, and the authorities in Gibraltar, we have found a solution so we are now officially a license holder in Gibraltar. We are very happy because now we can operate under the same conditions as the monopolies, at least as far as tax is concerned.”
