Online Poker Site Sees 70% Increase in Players
Despite the soon to be enacted UIGEA, the home company of Party Poker has noticed a huge jump in online players this year over last year. The online Party Gaming Company has posted a 70% increase in its good luck-seeking players. The third quarter revenues were also a huge increase coming in at a striking $115 million. The thirst for increased online gambling, in particular poker, is growing by leaps and bounds. Oddly however, the new player sign up was down by a bit by about 14% in the third quarter compared to the same quarter from last year. This may be due to the UIGEA.
The UIGEA is thought to be influencing player growth in this area. Party Gaming made strategic moves such as the purchase of Intercontinental Online Gaming and Empire Online. A purchase to the tune of $6.66 million that helped peak their overall numbers.
Online poker sites are growing by leaps and bounds. The posting of big numbers is encouraging. With any luck, the UIGEA will be postponed and eventually the law will be overturned. The man they call the “Robin Hood of Poker” Barry Greenstein recently went to Washington, DC to convince lawmakers that the ban should be lifted.
