Poker in the Park set for this weekendThis weekend, thousands of people will be showing up at Hanover Square to take part in the Poker in the Park festival. The festival will play host to several events and have stages set up throughout the square with entertainment as well as games. There will also be several booths at the event where visitors can look at new products and play games. The Main Stage is the big draw of the festival and it will feature live music, poker, celebrity poker, chess and card tricks. The final table of the mahjong tournament will also be featured at the main stage.
The festival will begin on Friday at 3pm and Richard Poyner will kick off the entertainment. Malcolm Pein, the International Chess Master, will be playing several players at once on the main stage. Another band will hit the stage after the chess matches and then the night will continue with music and fun.
On Saturday the action continues with Grand Master Simon Williams playing speed chess and Lucy Porter hosting the British Poker Awards. There will also be music by Richard Poyner as well as Deadly Card Throwing by Javier Jarquin the card ninja.
The festival is also trying to host a record breaking mahjong tournament. The festival wants to see a record number of player sign up for the competition so they will be able to make the records books as the largest mahjong tournament ever held. The final table of the tournament will begin at 20:00 and then the champion of the tournament will be crowned a little over an hour later.
Entry is free to the festival, so everyone should consider coming out to enjoy what the festival has to offer. Hopefully most people will be able to make it both days so the festival will have a good crowd and be enjoyed by all.
