PokerStars European Poker Tour is a very popular tour with stops all over Europe. The online poker site recently announced that the Vilamoura stop of this seasons European Poker Tour will have a unique event taking place.

The new event is called the Fairways and Felts Challenge and it is brand new to the tour. Players will not only be competing at the poker table during this event they will also be competing on the fairway. That’s right players will be playing golf as well as poker. Players must put up the €1,100 buy-in to compete in the event which will take place during the last two days of the Vilamoura main event.

The players chip stack during the event will be determined by how well they do during the golf portion. JP Kelly the PokerStars Team UK Pro will be hosting the event and he commented on the event by stating:

“I haven’t been playing golf that long but I’m already well and truly hooked. Golf is a perfect antidote to the stresses of the poker table – it’s physical but also includes the kind of mental challenges that poker players relish. Vilamoura is home to some of the best golf courses in the world – in fact, the entire resort was built around courses – so I am very excited at the prospect of playing there. I’m even hoping to go out early with friends to get some practice in beforehand.”
