PokerStars Doubles Up On Guaranteed Tournaments
The world’s largest online poker room, PokerStars has proven why it holds that prestigious spot in the online poker industry, announcing the addition of more than double the previous guaranteed weekly tournaments, as well as upping the prize pools of its most lucrative online poker tournaments.

PokerStars announced last week that the new guaranteed tournament schedule would increase the weekly line-up from 199 guaranteed events to a massive 483. As such, the original $7.5 million paid out weekly has also risen to a whopping $13 million.

Aside from adding new guaranteed tournaments to the schedule, PokerStars has added value to its existing online poker tournaments. The most famous of all – the PokerStars Sunday million, aptly named for its $1 million prize pool – has now increased substantially to $1.5 million.

Other notable increases in guaranteed prize pools include the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up, (held shortly before the PokerStars Sunday Million), jumping from $500k to $750k GP; and the PokerStars Super Tuesday has risen from $250k to $300k.

The largest guaranteed tournament added to the schedule has been another Sunday event, the PokerStars $250k GTD. The buy-in is normally $500+$30, extended t $1,000+$50 on the last Sunday of each month. The addition of this new guarantee has spiked PokerStars’ most lucrative Sunday events to an impressive total of $2.6 million up for grabs.
