PokerStars, the top online poker room, is going to try and set a new world record for having the largest amount of players participating in an online poker tournament. The poker room would like to see a ton of players turn out for the event to reach their goal of 35,000 players.

The tournament will take place on the 28th of December and if the goal is reached the poker room will be in the Guinness Book of World Records. PokerStars holds the record at just over 20,000 players, which was recorded last year.

The buy-in for the tournament is only $11 with a guarantee of $50,000. PokerStars has already commented that nearly 2,000 players have already signed up to participate and if all the players needed sign up then up to 3,500 poker tables could be running at the same time.
