Police Raid Poker Tournament during CAP Conference
Poker players and those in the industry gathered recently to attend the CAP in Barcelona. During this time players who have earned seat to a private cash poker tournament are getting ready to try and win the large prize. However, their hopes were dashed when local authorities raided the poker tournament.

The tournament was set to take place at the Hotel Princesa in Barcelona. It was to be a freeroll poker tournament that would involve cash outside of a casino. This of course is illegal in Barcelona but players and organizers went ahead with the tournament anyway. The Affiliate Series of Poker Tournament is held during the Casino Affiliate Program events and is open to those who are in the know.

The tournament had $10,000 in cash prizes and the winner would have received a gold bracelet studded with diamonds. But the hopes of the players were squashed when local police raided the hotel and confiscated the tables and chips from the tournament.

No player or anyone else for that matter was arrested and no charges have been filed against anyone. But it seems as though the organizers would have been more private about holding a tournament if they knew there was a strong possibility that it would be shut down by police.

Either way it makes for an exciting day when you are playing a great game of poker and the police show up to confiscate the poker paraphernalia. There are probably quite a few stories of what exactly went down from those who were in attendance.
