PPA Congratulates New WSOP Winner
The Poker Players Alliance, a poker advocacy group, has given their congratulations to the newest World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Joe Cada. Cada won the 2009 WSOP Main Event after besting DArvin Moon in heads up play.Cada is just twenty one years old so he beat the previous record held by Peter Eastgate as the youngest player ever to win the WSOP Main Event. Cada earned $8.55 million in prize money as well as a gold bracelet for his efforts.
The PPA congratulated Cada on his win and spoke out on Cada’s support of their efforts to protect poker player’s rights. Alfonse D’Amato the former Senator and Chairman of the PPA commented: “On behalf of PPA members, I congratulate Joe on his historic WSOP win and thank him for being such a strong advocate for the game, especially online poker. “
The PPA also stated that Cada is a member of the PPA and wore PPA patches throughout the World Series of Poker competition. Cada has commented on his support of the PPA by stating: “Poker is not gambling. There is decision-making, there’s logic, there’s math and I think that taking away online poker takes away people’s rights. I am very supportive of the PPA.”
