Wife Sentenced to Jail Time after Killing Poker Pro Husband
Jill Rockcastle was recently sentenced to ten years in prison after she stabbed her poker pro husband fifteen times in their condo in Las Vegas, Nevada. The victim was William Gustafik, otherwise known as The Manipulator in the poker community. Gustafik was a former chiropractor and corrections officer before beginning a career as a poker pro. His wife, Ms. Rockcastle, cried profusely in the court room and exclaimed her love for Mr. Gustafik to the judge before sentencing. She also apologized for her actions.
Rockcastle stated that she lost control and plead guilty to no contest second degree murder. Called an ‘Alford plea’, Rockcastle would avoid trail and acknowledged that the prosecuting side could prove a case against her.
Rockcastle’s attorney, Joseph Abood, claimed that Rockcastle was abused by Gustafik and she stabbed him after he grabbed her hair. The prosecutor, Sam Bateman, stated there was not any evidence that showed Gustafik as being violent toward Rockcastle.
Ms. Rockcastle was arrested after being found unconscious in a San Luis Obispo motel. It is believed that she had overdosed. The arrest was made several days after her husband’s death in April and Rockcastle plead guilty in September.
