World Series of Poker Champion the Youngest Ever to Win
Peter Eastgate is a twenty two year old poker player who made it to the final table at the World Series of Poker Main Event. Not only did Eastgate make it to the final table but he also won the competition making him the youngest player ever to win the Main Event.

The previous title holder was Phil Hellmuth who won the tournament at age twenty four in 1989. Eastgate was up against Ivan Demidov in heads up play when Eastgate hit an ace to five straight on the turn and called an all in bet from Demindov on the river. Demidov held two pair, twos and fours so Eastgate took the victory and the $9,152,416 first place prize.

After taking pictures with his new stack of winnings, Eastgate commented: “it feels good to beat Phil’s record. I was not focused on the record that I could break, I was just focused on the game.” Hellmuth called Eastgate before the poker session to wish him good luck.

Demidov would not go home empty handed with his second place finish. He would be taking home $5,809,595 for his efforts. Dennis Phillips finished in third place and won $4,517,773.
