WSOP Event #29 Won by Leo Wolpert
Event #29 of the WSOP was a $10,000 Heads up world championship and it was Leo Wolpert who managed to outlast the field and take the $652,682 first place prize. Wolpert had to take on several top poker players in heads up play to earn the win.

Wolpert has cashed out eight times at the WSOP during his career and this was his second final table. The first time Wolpert made it to a final table was last year at the Shootout event. Wolpert had to knock out John Duthie in heads up play during the final round to earn the first place prize.

Wolpert commented on his win: “I can’t really even describe it. I actually didn’t really expect to win, I mean I always enter a tournament hoping to win. But with a tough field like this I wasn’t even really thinking about it until today. The goal was just to play against whoever I was going to play and run good against them, see if they had some leaks, and try to exploit those- and I happened to run really, really good during the entire tournament. Now here I am.”

Wolpert did not earn a win during the first match of the finals and it helped him to fight back and take the first place win. He stated he stayed calm and remember that there was another match coming up. And it must have worked because Wolpert came back and won the event.
